The International Longshoreman’s Union went on strike this week which will impact facilities at the East and Gulf coast ports.

US stocks slipped on Thursday as the focus tentatively turned back to the economy and the monthly jobs report. Meanwhile, worries over the Middle East conflict rumbled in the background.

U.S. stocks are drifting lower Thursday, as crude oil prices continue to climb.

While the tone for equities was much better than Tuesday it still had a consolidative “feel” to it as it since NYSE breadth was flat (and actually somewhat negative) and total volume was extremely light.

In the week ending September 28, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 225,000, an increase of 6,000 from the previous week's revised level. The previous week's level was revised up by 1,000 from 218,000 to 219,000.

In the afternoon, US ISM Services index is due for release.

Cash trade looks like it could be as high as $186 or higher this week. futures prices have also continued to move higher for the 18 days with no price correction.

Feeders have seen a similar situation as seen in the Live Cattle this week with higher cash trade, a higher Cash Feeder Index and prices breaking out above key resistance levels which came in around the $246.10 level basis the November contract.

Soybeans were able to turn their long-term trends up last week and prices have now begun to drift around inside a trading range while holding their uptrends.

Wheat has been the strongest of the grains which make up the grain complex.

Corn seemed to be the last grain to turn their long-term charts higher.

Cotton prices were able to turn their long-term trends higher just a couple of weeks ago and the market has continued to slowly work higher.
